Nick and Jessie love to travel.  One of their favorite travel destinations is Costa Rica.  They have enjoyed it so much they wanted to share it with their families and friends in a "destination" wedding.

Way back in February 2007 we got a "Save the Date" card announcing that plans were under way for the big event.  They even had their own website, www.daviskeppeler.com, to keep us informed.

A "Save the Date" Card

This was soon followed up by a card announcing more details.  Now it was time to get serious about the trip -- time to start reserving that hotel room and booking those airplane tickets!

Then came the invitation to the happy event!  Jessica Diane Davis and Nicholas Alex Keppeler were to celebrate their wedding on Monday, January 21, 2008, at 4:00 PM, in Playa Potrero, Guanacaste, Costa Rica.

Wedding Invitation

When the time came, about 50 folks made the trip.  We got to discover that Costa Rica is a virtual paradise and we got to see why Nick and Jessie rank it as one of their favorite destinations.  But above all, we got to join Nick and Jessie in celebrating their wedding.

The weekend centered on Playa Tamarindo and Playa Potrero, two beach towns on the Pacific Ocean coast, in the Province of Guanacoste, in the northwest of Costa Rica.

Playa Tamarindo is a good surfing area and the town is very tourist oriented.  Many of the locals speak English and US Dollars spend as well as Costa Rican Colones.  Most of the events of the weekend, except for the wedding and reception, were in Playa Tamarindo.

We all stayed at the Tamarindo Diria Beach and Golf Resort, a large, older hotel on the beach with three pools, beautiful grounds and attentive staff.

The wedding and reception were on the lawn at a restaurant-resort at Playa Potrero, overlooking the beach and the setting sun.

The Wedding Weekend was a mixture of events specificially related to the wedding and a number of side trips that optionally filled people's schedules.  My partner, Kevin Klosterman, and I chose to go on an estuary cruise and on a day-long trip to the Arenal volcano.  Other folks chose to go on a zip-line tour thru the tree tops, to watch sea turtles coming ashore to lay eggs, and to take a snorkling cruise.

My parents, the grandparents of the groom, were not able to make the trip due to my father's health.  I promised my mother that I'd take lots of pictures so she could see what went on and who is who.  But while I was motivated to take all these pictures for my mom, and for myself as well, I'm happy to share them all with you too.  Please enjoy!
